A Prayer of Blessing: May You Belong Entirely To God

The past three weeks I've been participating in a spiritual discipline of early morning prayer.  One of the prayers being used is this one found in Richard Foster's book, Prayers From The Heart, p.63.

May You Belong Entirely To God (Breastplate prayer of St. Fursa)

May the yoke of the Law of God be upon your shoulder,
The coming of the Holy Spirit on your head,
The sign of Christ on your forehead,
The hearing of the Holy Spirit in your ears,
The smelling of the Holy Spirit in your nose,
The vision of the people of heaven in your eyes,
The speech of the people of heaven in your mouth,
The work of the Church of God in your hands, the good of God and of neighbor in your feet.
May God dwell in your heart and may you belong entirely to God the Father. Amen.

Thanks for posting that prayer. I've found Foster's work very insightful although I haven't read Prayers From the Heart. The man just has a knack for saying things the right way.

This particular book by Foster is not writing as such as it is a collection of prayers. About 1/2 of the prayers are compositions by Foster. The other 1/2 are collected from other, mostly classical, sources.

I've found these prayers helpful in the past and present.
