Wild Horses, Wild Asses

In reading from the book, Making Gospel Sense; To a Troubled Church, by James Wm. McClendon, Jr. I found this fascinating depiction.

". . . an old saying from the American West: What is the difference between wild horses and wild asses? When danger threatens the herd, wild horses gather in a circle, heads together , and kick out against the common foe.
