On Tuesday morning we awoke to find 8-10 inches of snow on the ground; it surprised everyone. That morning I had a district meeting in Big Rapids, MI. The drive was slower as the roads were precarious. The scenery was wonderful. Between Mt. Pleasant and Big Rapids there are lots of farms and lots of evergreen trees. The evergreens were loaded with snow, yet because the snow was light they looked strong and pristine. A perfect picture embedded in the mind.
On the journey home I saw two old gentlemen out clearing their drives. One was running a snow blower, the other was operating a loader tractor. I cheered. For these old guys had not succumbed to sitting inside, watching the world go by and not being a part of it. They had strong hearts that got up and did what needed to be done. Their picture was the best one I had on the drive.
