The corn harvest has begun

Today I did a little driving.  Along the way I saw a John Deere combine (9500) shelling corn.  This is a most unusual sight on the first day of September in central Michigan.  The first of October would be early, the first of September is incredible.
Much of the corn that was planted in the spring has been chopped for silage.
Some soybeans have begun to shed their leaves.
The crops are ripening, the harvest is here.
